It’s OK to Be Gay and Play

Jordan Vega is the Senior Captain of Whittier College's Men's Cross Country and Track Team. He's also our newest Athlete Ally Ambassador, helping us reach out to athletes, coaches, and students to encourage them to challenge homophobia in sports.

Jordan put this great video together, where he talks about his experience as a gay athlete. Although the road to acceptance on the field was not always smooth, today Jordan is not only accepted for who is he, but he's a role model to his teammates. In fact, today his teammates are some of his biggest fans, and they show off their support with LGBT stickers during some of their races.

"It's ok to be gay and to play," Jordan says. "What matters is how you play, and how you can contribute to the team."
